Become a Coach
At Blizzard SC, our volunteer coaches are the heart of our club. Many of our teams simply wouldn’t happen without the parents and community members who step up to coach or assist each season.
Whether you’ve played soccer for years or you’re completely new to the game, what matters most is your willingness to support the kids, create a positive environment, and help them enjoy the sport.
Our goal is simple: great experiences for players start with supported coaches.
Why Volunteer to Coach?
Coaching youth soccer is one of the most rewarding things you can do — for the players, and for yourself.
Connect with your child and the team — Coaching gives you a unique opportunity to be part of your child's soccer journey and build genuine relationships with other families in the club.
Make a real impact — Coaches help players develop confidence, teamwork, and resilience — skills that go far beyond the field and last a lifetime.
Learn and grow alongside the players — Blizzard SC and our partners provide resources, guidance, and education to help new coaches feel comfortable and supported from day one.
Be part of the community — Our club is built on families working together to create a positive soccer environment for everyone.
It's fun — Time outdoors, staying active, and celebrating team moments together. There's nothing quite like it.

Who Makes a Great Coach?
You don't need to be a soccer expert. The best coaches often share a few key qualities:
Positive and encouraging with kids
Reliable and organised
Willing to learn and grow
Supportive of player development and teamwork
Passionate about creating a great team environment
Many of our coaches are parents just like you — and some of our most impactful coaches are women who started exactly where you are now.
A Note for Female Coaches
At Blizzard, our club is home to female coaches holding credentials at every level, including the Canada Soccer B Licence, C Licence, Children's Licence, and Youth Licence, as well as the CONCACAF B and C Diplomas. These are some of the highest coaching qualifications in the country, and they belong to women who started by simply putting their hand up.
We run female-specific coaching camps and actively support women who want to develop their skills and pursue licensing. Whether you're brand new to coaching or ready to take the next step in your development, Blizzard is a club that invests in you.
Canada Soccer's SheCan Coach initiative reflects a national commitment to growing women in the game – and at Blizzard, that commitment is lived every day on our pitches.
Support for Blizzard Coaches
You won't be doing this alone. Blizzard SC works hard to make coaching manageable, enjoyable, and developmental:
Practice and game resources and guidance
Support from club staff and coordinators throughout the season
Access to coaching education and licensing opportunities
Female-specific coaching development camps
A collaborative, welcoming club environment where every coach belongs
We want every coach — at every level — to feel confident, supported, and valued.
